Financial Assistance Information
The Warren County YMCA Fee Assistance Program is made possible by financial support received from the Warren County United Way and donations received through the annual Kids Need Heroes Campaign. Consistent with the goals and objectives of the Warren County YMCA, membership or program services will be made available to all persons, regardless of ability to pay. If you feel that you or your family can benefit from this program, please click here for a Scholarship Application. Applications can also be picked up at the YMCA Courtesy Desk.
Policy Statement
It is the mission of the YMCA to provide services for any person or family desiring to participate, regardless of ability to pay the standard membership or program fees. Every year, the YMCA raises money to help with scholarships for youths and families through our Kids Need Heroes campaign. Those not able to pay the full fee may be awarded assistance based on demonstrated inability to pay and the YMCA’s ability to provide funding.
Because the demand for financial assistance is great, the YMCA must follow the eligibility guidelines. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to available resources. The YMCA reserves the right to adjust scholarships as needed during a given calendar year. Notice will be provided when adjustments are made.
Eligibility
Assistance will be granted on the basis of financial need. The YMCA believes a strong sense of ownership and pride is developed if the recipient has contributed to the cost of YMCA involvement; therefore, applicants will be asked to pay some portion of the fees. Financial assistance is awarded on a six-month and annual basis from the date of approval, and participants are requalified each year.
How to Apply
Applications are available through the appropriate YMCA office during normal business hours. All application records are kept confidential. Applicants must completely fill out the attached Request for Financial Assistance form to be considered for financial assistance.
Applicants must provide proof of income. (The YMCA requires two current, consecutive payroll check stubs from each member of the household earning income or a letter from each employer verifying salary and/or an income tax return. You must also provide a current checking account statement). If any member of the household is currently unemployed for any reason, including disability, documentation proving unemployment must be provided. If the household receives food stamps, proof of that income is also required.
All sources of family income should be reported, including alimony, court ordered and non-court-ordered child support, disability, workers’ compensation, and any other government assistance. Applicants must complete all necessary registrations for the programs for which they are requesting financial assistance.
Applicants must provide either proof of membership at the Warren County YMCA or complete a membership application form at the time of applying (annual renewal of membership is required). Applicants will be contacted within five to ten business days of submitting the request. They will not be registered for programs until they pay the specified program fees.
Selection Process
Financial assistance eligibility will be determined by a trained staff member after a thorough review of the application and all supporting documentation. No financial assistance application will be reviewed until all required documentation has been received by the YMCA Membership Department. Failure to submit all required documentation within ten business days of the original request will cause a denial of the request. Subsidies will be granted to the extent that funds are available. The YMCA reserves the right to deny or end assistance to any applicant at any time. Notice will be provided immediately by the Account Services Department.
Any family who does not utilize the approved financial assistance may lose it and be suspended from further application for YMCA programs. If your child cannot participate, you are required to contact the YMCA prior to his or her first day of attendance. Services must be utilized for a minimum of 80 percent of the program. Abusing this policy will be grounds for dismissal from the YMCA program.
If an account is two weeks past due, your child may be removed from the YMCA program for non-payment at the facility’s discretion. Additionally, financial assistance may be terminated. Upon payment of your account in full, the YMCA will reconsider the reinstatement of financial assistance and allow your child to attend YMCA programs.
To stay compliant, you must update all contact information, including address, home phone number, work phone number, and cell phone number for all guardians.
